This shooting was in the cold Bavarian winter, which provides the white-ish backdrop. I used an off camera flash to brighten up the shadows in her face. It tends to be difficult to get proper exposure with snow all around, on the other hand it acts as a natural reflector. Definitely interesting.
A shot in the snow.
I took this portrait of a random stranger in the streets of Male, the capital of the Maldives. He was standing at the corner of a street, and I was able to grab this shot before he noticed. I showed it to him - and he said as a thank you I had to go to his friend's shop and look at some souvenirs. I could not help myself and had to buy a few items of questionable utility. The price you bay for a good photo.
This was shot with a white seamless and some coloured gels on two flashes to create the red light effect, which matches nicely with the scarf.
A fun indoor shooting with just a white seamless in the background and some flashes with color gels. Considering
I have done the occasional DJ gig as well, how can I not like this shot?
Under the Bridge
A spontaneous shoot under a bridge in Kufstain, Austria resulted in this shot.
In the Grass
Been a while ago - but it was a fun shooting. Wide angle can be difficult with portraits, but this works I think.
Princess in the Grass
A fun outdoor shooting - only the bugs were somewhat annoying ;)
Shot with an FL50R on a shoot through umbrella remote controlled via Olympus E-3.
In the Ghetto
Not quite - but at least under the bridge. Shot with two soft boxes.
Portrait in a Chair
Really liking the color palette in this portrait shoot I did a while back. And yes I know - should have watched out for that power plug.
Probably one of the funniest shootings I ever did.
One of my favourite shots of a fashion shoot I did a couple of years back.
Hat and Golden Hair
This photo is one of my favourites of a shooting I did for a hairdresser a while back. It was one of my first shoots with multiple lights and a bit more experimental. This one was shot with an off camera softbox to illuminate the model and a white shoot through umbrella for highlights and to get some light on the background.
Portrait with a Top Hat
This shot was taken at a shooting for a fashion and hair stylist in 2010 in a beautiful location in southern Germany. The room was quite dark, so I used two white softboxes on my FL 50R wireless flashes to light this shot with minimal post processing.
On The Vespa
This was part of the fashion and hairstyle shooting I did a while back, there are some more images on the blog. In hindsight, two things bug me with this shot - the light shining on the brick wall (this was inside, so it came through a window) and the left side of her face is slightly too dark. The client liked the shot though.
All that's missing is a little glim and smoke on the cigarette ;) Photoshop anyone?
The Lady and the Vespa
Shot in an old boiler house in Germany.
On the Stairs
A somewhat experimental photo taken during a style shooting.
Spider in Your Face
While trying to find a good shooting location, we ran into this spider web.
White & Blue
One of my first portrait shootings ever, I think this was in 2009 during university.
Ready for Business?
For this shooting we were looking for some portfolio type business shots, so Dubai International Financial Centre seemed to be a good location. They don't like people taking pictures there though (credit to them for allowing me to come back with written letter the week after though) - so instead I used Emirates Towers as background for this shot. Somewhat cheesy, but it does work for what it was intended to.
In the Grass
A photo taken during a shooting in Dubai. I really like the composition and colour - in fact, the grass in the image was originally green and I adjusted the hues to get the reddish look.
Think About It
One of my favourite shots from a shoot I did in Dubai a few years ago. I rarely edit my shots to the extent I did here, but I do like the effect and the intensity. Seems a bit over the top when you compare with the original in hindsight.
