The Existing Strengths

The latest new product from Enlaps is the new Tikee mini S - the successor to the mini + (I really hope Enlaps will just go with mini 2 or so for the next iteration 😃). The Tikee mini introduced a much more compact and affordable alternative to Enlaps’ larger Tikee cameras, while keeping most of the features that make the ecosystem useful for long-term timelapse projects.

Whether it’s for construction, nature, events, and whether you just want a timelapse clip in the end, regular content, or enhanced security, or monitor safety and progress, the solution remains as powerful as ever.

A few quick highlights of the hardware, which remains externally unchanged from the predecessor.

Not to forget that it of course works with the mytikee cloud platform, including the improved subscription plans launched last year. While I know many people don’t like paying monthly for yet another software, I want to highlight again that I have yet to find another way to process long term timelapse footage as easily as with the mytikee platform, on top of all the other features for monitoring and remote access.

Having said that, you can also use the camera offline and get raw files from the SD card.

What’s New

There are four areas where the S version has been improved over the predecessor, all themed under the “S” banner:

1) Setup

The Mini S is designed to be quick to install and straightforward to configure. The live preview helps frame the shot before deployment, while the camera is ready to capture with minimal setup. Configuration is now even simpler through the Tikee Remote mobile app, including the connectivity settings required for remote operation, with less room for error.

2) Settings

Once installed, the Mini S offers flexible shooting options for different projects. New daylight-based automatic scheduling can adapt capture times to available light, while True View and rotation settings from the + version help control the final framing and orientation.

3) Sight

The Mini S captures 4K imagery through a very wide field of view, making it particularly useful when a large scene needs to be covered from a relatively close position. Better low-light performance extends its usability beyond ideal daylight conditions, while white-balance locking helps maintain more consistent colours throughout a long timelapse sequence if needed.

4) Supervision

For long-term deployments, the mini S can be monitored remotely rather than requiring regular visits to the camera with now instant status updates. The new fleet management tool can be used to more effectively manage multiple Tikee cameras, with live-stream video providing an additional way to verify the scene.

No need to manually make changes or cut a lot of unnecessary images during post production - saves battery too! Of course you can include an offset to start taking images for a certain period before sunrise or after sunset as well.
